Mir in My Sky

March 6, 2021 by samuelsaintthomas

NOTES:
Samuel Saint Thomas’ freshman EP release Mir in My Sky was recorded and mixed in a drafty one-car garage in Long Valley, NJ. The recording was co-produced and engineered by violinist Tim Carbone (Kings in Disguise, Railroad Earth, Phil Lesh). This three song EP, including a rare reggae/island interpretation of the Beatles’ “Let it Be,” formed the sound track for the feature length Mir in My Sky: Mystic Journey for Peace to Yugoslavia a documentary shot during the war in the former Yugoslavia.

Samuel Saint Thomas: vocals and guitar
Tim Carbone: violin
M.J. Law: drums
Toby Costa: guitar

Saweeet

March 5, 2021 by samuelsaintthomas

NOTES:
Sixteen year old Krista Long and Samuel Saint Thomas team together on this swing, blues, hick hop, rock release, Saweeet. The CD features the creatively reimagined 1971 Melanie number one hit, “Brand New Key.” Rivaling the original version, it is injected with banjo, violin, and a novel hick hop dance beat. Written, recorded, mixed, and produced by singer-songwriter, Samuel Saint Thomas at A.D. West Studios, the songs are full of innocence and wonder, curiosity and  bounce.

CREDITS:

Enlisting the outstanding talents of Cesar Diaz (Bob Dylan, Allman Brothers), Tim Carbone (Kings in Disguise, Railroad Earth, Phil Lesh), M.J. Law and Kevin Leggieri (Solution A.D.), Len Mooney (Roamin Gabrials), and others.

Acoustic Dwellings

March 4, 2021 by samuelsaintthomas

NOTES:

It is rare in a producer’s life when he’s fortunate enough to be in the same room with thirteen talented songwriters as they step to the mic to lay down a piece of their creative soul to raise a bit of cash for Habitat for Humanity. March 10th, 1998 broke ground in Monroe County, PA. It was the very first songwriters’ event, first songwriters’ CD, first live pop recording, and the first-ever recording at Sarah Street Grill. The vibes that night from both talent and audience were goosebumps-a-plenty. If you had been lucky enough to be at that standing-room-only word-of-mouth song cluster, you’d agree that great events sometimes happen by surprise.  The success of Acoustic Dwellings attests to the vibrant 90s music scene of North Jersey and Pennsylvania.  History was made by thirteen artists who shared their stories and songs in an effort to spread love and put a roof over a few more heads.

Unfortunate Adventures of a Naked Mystic is Samuel Saint Thomas’ roots rock freshman CD release.  His original solo project features a stellar cast of players and incorporates the classic sounds of Marshall Amps, Les Pauls, Gibson 335’s, and a Hammond organ. Recorded in original sonic spaces such as elevator shafts, toilets, and hallways, each track encompasses a chapter in Saint Thomas’ painful yet pleasurable evolution from mystic to carnal man.

Notes:

Bovine Social Club’s debut CD, produced by Tim Carbone, received rave reviews in the folk and jamband scenes. Following up five years later, Carbone, Andy Goessling and John Skehan of Railroad Earth join the Bovines on their Live at Mauch Chunk Opera House recording. The fourteen-track release features the original songs of lead vocalist Samuel Saint Thomas and arrangements of traditional bluegrass and old-time folk songs with mad intricate improvisations by the eight seasoned musicians. Dropped worldwide in 2017, the CD features the Bill Monroe bluegrass and twang single “Can’t You Hear Me Calling,” Hazel Dickens’ “Won’t You Come Sing For Me,” and Samuel Saint Thomas’ treatise on the American Dust Bowl, “The Great American Desert.” Samuel’s honest narratives reflect his former monastic life and his skill as a writer and philosopher.
