Bovine Social Club’s debut CD, produced by Tim Carbone, received rave reviews in the folk and jamband scenes. Following up five years later, Carbone, Andy Goessling and John Skehan of Railroad Earth join the Bovines on their Live at Mauch Chunk Opera House recording. The fourteen-track release features the original songs of lead vocalist Samuel Saint Thomas and arrangements of traditional bluegrass and old-time folk songs with mad intricate improvisations by the eight seasoned musicians. Dropped worldwide in 2017, the CD features the Bill Monroe bluegrass and twang single “Can’t You Hear Me Calling,” Hazel Dickens’ “Won’t You Come Sing For Me,” and Samuel Saint Thomas’ treatise on the American Dust Bowl, “The Great American Desert.” Samuel’s honest narratives reflect his former monastic life and his skill as a writer and philosopher.

“Live at Mauch Chunk Opera House captures the essence of Bovine Social Club’s live vibe with their detailed musical expression and pensive, yet occasionally humorous lyrics. Bovine Social Club has mastered the art of distinctiveness while synchronously continuing the tradition of including a cast of guest players.” Tabitha Clancy, Exit 977 WEXT, Troy, NY
